CCTV footage shows moment spanish restaurant manager stops terrorists by barricading entrance

“It was a hot night, the terraces were full, but only the restaurants were open. By day it could have been a massacre.”

Mr Fariña, who has been praised as a hero in Spanish media, spoke of his fears as he returned home on a bus after the attack, and acknowledged that his family in Spain were scared for him. “I got on thinking, I hope that nothing happens.”

But, he added: “these things can happen to you anywhere. At a football match, at a concert… You never know. Today the restaurant is closed, tomorrow and yesterday too, but we’ll have to return to normal life. You don’t think it can happen so close to you, but there it is.”

This message was posted later on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
