Police have carried out fresh raids and detained a number of people this morning in connection with the London Bridge terror attack.

Twelve people were arrested on Sunday after an armed raid in Barking, east London. A further raid also took place in East Ham.

Scotland Yard said police were searching two more east London addresses – one in Newham and another in Barking – after entering the properties at 4.15am. A number of people were being questioned, it said.

Residents reported hearing “loud flash bangs and gunshots”. Twitter user BatemanLDN said: “It woke me up along with the whole street. Extremely loud bangs followed by gunshot bangs.

“All ok – very shaken residents nearby though. All quietened down now.”

Seven people were killed and 48 injured in the attack on Saturday, with 21 fighting for their lives in hospital.
