Possible recount? Tory bigwigs Amber Rudd & Anna Soubry at risk of losing seats

The returning officer for Ms Rudd’s seat of Hastings and Rye has said the result is so close a recount might be needed.

The Home Secretary, who is running is running for re-election in Hastings and Rye, won her seat from Labour in 2015 General Election but polls suggest she could lose to rival Peter Chowney.

The result for her seat is expected at 2am BST.

When asked about the reports of a recount, Ms Rudd told the BBC: “I’m not going to engage much, until we’re a little clearer where it is at the moment.

“Quietly waiting… hopeful but not complacent.”
