Theresa May has described meeting Grenfell  Tower survivors in hospital who have been “left with nothing” as she announced a £5million fund to support residents.

The Prime Minister said that she had heard “horrific” stories of people being treated at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital who “ran from the fire with only the clothes they were wearing”.

The Government’s fund, which will be distributed by Kensington and Chelsea council, will cover the cost of emergency supplies, food, clothes, personal supplies and funerals.

Ministers have committed to rehousing those who have lost their homes “as close as practivally possible” to Grenfell Tower – either in the same borough or in a neighbouring borough.
