‘We’ll defend them’ Labour’s Thornberry in U-turn over Falklands despite Corbyn reluctance

Emily Thornberry showed a tougher stance than leader Jeremy Corbyn who said on Friday a Labour government would focus on “defence, development and diplomacy”, with armed action coming only as a last resort.

Appearing on the BBC’s The Andrew Marr Show yesterday, Ms Thornberry was asked if military action would be an option to protect the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands, which Argentina has been attempting to lay claim to for decades.

She said: “Yes.
