23 Apr

Charities have now reported a significant uptake in their services, immediately following Prince Harry’s interview on Bryony Gordon’s podcast Mad World. Mind, the leading mental health charity, said calls to its information line had risen 38 per cent this week, compared with an average day.

The Mix, a Heads Together partner which aims to support the under 25s in particular, said it had seen a 43 per cent rise in people actively using their online services for mental health support in the four days following Prince Harry’s interview.

On the impact of the Royal family, a spokesman added that a visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry to their volunteers’ Christmas party last year has also inspired a spike of 32 per cent.

98 per cent of its web chats, for young people who wish to ask for help and advice, now feature discussion about mental health.
