‘Hogwarts Express’ rescues stranded family

14 Oct

When a family of six became stranded in the remote Scottish Highlands the last thing they expected was to be rescued by the ‘Hogwarts Express’ steam train.

But after their canoe was swept away by a swollen river and they became stuck in boggy marshland, the police sent the magical locomotive to their rescue.

Jon and Helen Cluett and their four young children, aged six, eight, 10 and 12 , had been staying in a remote bothy in Lochaber when they became stranded.

After calling the police for help, the constabulary sent in The Jacobite to collect them.

The train is more recognisable as the steam train used in the Harry Potter films, but its day job is to run excursions on the West Highland Railway Line,  crossing the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct that also features in the movies.
