Jeremy Corbyn refuses to say he will step down if Labour loses snap election as MP quits the party in protest at his leadership

Labour is split on Brexit, with many MPs opposing the decision to leave the EU while Mr Corbyn forced his party to vote for Article 50 earlier this year.

The Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP criticised the leader last week after Labour lost a Middlesbrough council seat to the Tories on a by-election swing of 8%.
