Arriving at the EU Council meeting in Brussels today, the EU parliament president was asked whether or not he thought the upcoming UK election on June 8 would influence the outcome of the negotiations. 

He said: “For us, it’s important to have in the UK the election before the beginning of the Brexit. It’s much better to vote in the UK today and then we start with the negotiations.

“For us the stability of the UK is important for this it is much better to have a Government without problems during these two years than a Government with problems, with election campaign.”
